She went on to obtain her Master of Social Work degree with a Clinical Global Practice Concentration and a certificate in Trauma Studies from Boston College where she again graduated first in her class. Her first-year graduate internship was spent as a case manager working with the homeless population for FamilyAid Boston. Her second-year graduate internship was spent on the island of Lesvos, Greece, where she worked in a shelter for unaccompanied refugee minors fleeing war and terrorism in the Middle East. There she helped train and collaborate with local staff in providing best practices for acute trauma survivors. Before joining the Anxiety Center, Skylar spent the four years working with students K-12 as a school-based mental and behavioral health therapist for both Catholic Charities of Southwest Ohio and Best Point Behavioral Health with The Children’s Home of Cincinnati.

My Passion
"I believe that we are created out of love and for love, but our ability to fully live out this vocation is often disrupted by a variety of internal and external forces. However, through my work, I have realized again and again that we all have the most incredible resilience and ability to survive and thrive amidst even the most painful circumstances. Sometimes we just need a little help accessing those inner strengths. I am passionate about helping people realize their potential and regain their confidence, peace, and ability to fully live like the people they were created to be. Nothing brings me more joy than when I see a person overcome what they never thought possible and nothing humbles me more knowing I was able to walk alongside them on that journey.

In my free time, you will likely find me running/exercising, hosting friends and family for dinner, eating Private Selection sea salt caramel ice cream, walking with my husband and looking at the historic homes throughout the city, reading a book, or praying quietly in one of Cincinnati’s many beautiful churches."
